POWERBALL® - The Shape of Light



The METALARC® POWERBALL® family of ceramic metal halide lamps represents a significant improvement in arc tube design compared to the cylindrical arc tubes t*ically used, pushing the performance of these lamps to new levels.  The spherical geometry, uniform wall thickness and construction method optimize arc tube thermal characteristics. The exclusive SYLVANIA POWERBALL arc tube design is available in PAR lamps, T-lamps, as well as medium and mogul base lamps.  These lamps are ideal for all color critical applications where sustainability and energy savings are desired including retail, grocery, hospitality and healthcare.



Longer Life
The uniform temperature of the POWERBALL arc tube ensures full halide evaporation during operation which has a direct impact on lamp life. Conversely, cylindrical arc tube geometry and construction promote “cold” regions where halides will liquefy and cause premature ceramic corrosion in the arc tube corners and seal area, thus shortening lamp life.

Color Consistency
The spherical shape of the POWERBALL improves the convection of heat inside the arc tube regardless of operating position. This steady thermal performance equates to consistent color temperatures in all operating positions from horizontal to vertical. This performance advantage benefits customers using multiple lamp positions in the same application, which is common in retail locations using PAR and T-lamps in adjustable reflector track heads.

Improved Color Rendering
POWERBALL lamps offer high CRI (82-95) with improved R9 – “RED” color rendering.  The optimal shape and construction ensure uniform temperatures which allow the use chemistries which significantly improve the lamps ability to render “RED” colors very accurately.  As a result “Whites” are also improved giving retailers color performance rivaling Tungsten Halogen at a fraction of the energy requirement and up to 4 times the life.
